Oct 2016

Each beginning class consists of three 2 hour sessions. By the last session you will be completing your first project: a simple knit hat. For the first class you will be learning how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off while knitting two swatches. On the second Saturday, you will bring in your finished swatches and we will discuss gauge, tension, and how to knit flawless stitches. During this second class we will also guide you through casting on for your hat, which you will work on at home during the week. On the final Saturday, you will learn how to decrease for the crown of your hat. This is when we will teach you how to use double point needles, and you will finish the hat which you'll be wearing out of the shop or proudly giving to a loved one.
We're known for our fine service, so if you get stuck during the week you're more than welcome to come in and request help from any of our staff during regular business hours.  After the three classes you'll be sufficient and confident enough to tackle almost any project you want. Our goal is to spread the love of our favorite fiber art, so when you're happily knitting- we'll be happy too.
With this class you will receive all of the materials you need to get started. You will be getting a skein of Wynter (50% wool, 50% alpaca, and your choice of color), 16" circular needles, a stitch marker, a project bag, and the hat pattern. Any other materials such as scissors, double points, and tapestry needles will be available for you to use during class.
