Project Inspiration: Francisca
Francisca is a lightweight tee that is here in the shop as part of a trunk show. It's such a simple beauty- very basic, very feminine, sophisticated and oh so sweet!
The Francisca pattern is available to download for $6.00. It's knitted holding 2 different colors of Silky Alpaca Lace together. For sizes XS (S, M, L, XL, 2XL) you'll need 2 (2, 2, 3, 3, 3) skeins of Color A as well as 2 (2, 2, 3, 3, 3) skeins of Color B.
The wide ribbing along the bottom gives Francisca a fitted style, but the simple 3x3 pattern keeps it easy and casual. The rest of the shirt is knit on large needles for an open, oversized, loose gauge. I love how that gives Francisca that sheer look, and it really accentuates the drape of the Silky Alpaca Lace. That elegant drape works beautifully for those breezy flutter sleeves! Such a cute detail.
Since you are holding the 2 lace weight Silky Alpaca Lace skeins together- you end up with a gauge similar to knitting with a fingering weight yarn. I really like how this opens the door to some fun color combinations! The sample in the photos used the colors Apricot and Berry (not in stock).
Silky Alpaca Lace is available in solid colors ($13), as well as in hand painted variegated colors ($14). You have the option of using either in your Francisca! If you're not sure which colors pair well together for this pattern, I've put together a few ideas for you...
