Let It Sparkle Mitts
We've reached the final stretch of winter, but there is still a brisk chill in the air. The dreary weather has everyone itching to knit, and one thing we've noticed is that these dark grey days give everyone a craving for bright colors with accents of sparkle.
The Let It Sparkle Mitts is a lovely small project to bring us some cozy joy during these last few weeks of the season. They are knit with 2 yarns held together: one a soft merino alpaca blend, and the other a springy merino with a touch of sequins. They're delicate but warm, feminine but not gaudy, and simple yet so elegant.
The Let It Sparkle Mitts Pattern is $5.00, or free when you purchase the yarn to make it. They use 1 skein of Alpaca Merino held together with 1 skein of Merino Paillettes.
I do love the simplicity of this design. Stockinette stitch offers a plain canvas to show off the sequins, and a simple rib hugs the cuff, fingers, and thumb. If you're familiar with knitting on double pointed needles, and familiar with M1L & M1R, then you'll have no issue with this pattern.
There are a few color combinations that work really well. Our sample Let it Sparkle Mitts in the photos used Alpaca Merino #52 and Merino Paillettes #48, but as of writing this blog post- there is only 1 skein of #48 left in stock. I expect someone will swiftly claim it as their own... will it be you?
