Asymmetric Shawl Kits
Kits are popular among knitters & their friends for a variety of reasons, and perhaps the biggest reason is it makes things way easy! Regardless if you're shopping for yourself or someone else, it's nice to have a handful of choices that you know will work beautifully, instead of searching and searching for the perfect yarn for a pattern (or vice versa). Last week we debuted our first set of kits from Vijay Fibers, and this week we're excited to share another... The Asymmetric Shawl was designed by our friend Julie Turjoman, using incredibly luxurious mulberry and muga silk yarns.
Each kit contains the pattern and 2 skeins of yarn. A variegated hand dyed 470yards/100g as the main color, and a solid 136 yards/25g for the contrast color. Each kit is $65.
The Asymmetric Shawl is worked from tip-to-tip, with the variegated color worked into simple stockinette. The contrast color is used for the zig-zag lace border, and a picot bind-off finishes the piece with a feminine detail. While there is nothing too difficult with this pattern, reading a chart is required. If you are not familiar with charts this blog post may help.
The shape of the shawl is unexpected, making it fun to knit and really fun to wear! The silk gives it a stunning amount of drape and lightness. It's breezy, flowy, and a shawl pin is a lovely and functional accessory to add.
We have a variety of color pairings available in kits, and any sold out kits can be pre-ordered! Here are a few of my favorite combos:
