Project Inspiration: Turning Leaves Handwarmers
Does it feel like fall, yet? It does here- this rain feels, sounds, and smells so wonderfully refreshing! With only one final week left of summer, I figured it was a good time to share this sweet one-skein project: The Turning Leaves Handwarmers.
Tweedy is a fluffy blend of mohair, silk, and cotton. The fibers each have their own characteristic that they add to this yarn- making it soft, strong, and full of texture. The different fibers also absorb colors differently, so the already beautiful hand dyed colorways are given extra depth and personality. You only need one skein of Tweedy to knit up a pair of these mitts, and, like all Alchemy patterns- we will send you the pattern for free with your yarn shipment. All you need to do is mention this project in the 'notes' as you check-out.
These hand warmers are very airy and lightweight, however the mohair and silk still insulate warmth and give the perfect touch of comfort for this cool transitional season.
The stitch pattern is lovely- it's a Twisted Lattice Stitch knit up on US size 5 double points. I really like the garter stitch background with the travelling twisted stitches. I think it really helps the lattice design visually stand out, instead of being subtle and overshadowed by mohair fuzz.
Don't forget that hand warmers make fabulous gifts! They are small, portable, and manageable projects that you can finish quickly. Since there are several colors available in the Tweedy, it's easy to pick out colorways for friends & family. As we enter fall, we need to keep in mind that the holidays are right around the corner. If you're hand making this year's gifts- it's time to work.
