Micro-Brew Alchemy Yarns
We love our micro-brew beers, and we love our micro-brew yarns too. When things are created in small batches- it means that the producer was able to spend more time and attention on what's being made. That extra effort is almost always noticeable. There's a quality that you can only get from something that was expertly handmade versus something a computer was programmed to create by the thousands.
Alchemy Yarns created a line of micro-brew yarns, and we're proud to be the only yarn store able to offer them to you. The limited supply we have in stock will only last so long, and once they sell out they'll never be available again. The yarn has only been in the shop for 3 days, and I'm already hearing disappointed sighs from knitters who left and came back to find that the colors they wanted were already purchased by something else. So- if you want a skein.... get it before someone else takes it home.
There are 7 different yarns in this Micro-Brew collection, and they each have their own flair and character. Allow me to introduce you~
This supple single ply is 70% wool and 30% silk. That bit of silk really shines, giving it a beautiful touch of natural luster. Migrations is a variegated yarn that was designed to pool into long stripes of colors across your knit, crocheted, or woven fabrics. Since it's mostly wool, you know it's warm and has a good amount of body- which is great for cozy sweaters and large wearable garments. Unlike many of the other micro-brew yarns, there's plenty of Migrations in stock for you to get a sweater, for your sister to get a sweater, for your neighbor to get a sweater..... Everyone can get a sweater, you just need to decide who deserves one. :)
Length & Weight: 170 yards, 50 grams.
Gauge: 5 stitches per inch on US size 6 needles.
Fiber Content: 70% Wool, 30% Silk
2. Alpaca Pure
Alpaca Pure is, as implied, 100% superfine alpaca fiber. It's what you'd expect from a luxurious high-quality alpaca yarn: gorgeous drape, soft to touch, a light halo... only it has the bonus of being hand dyed with rich Alchemy colorways. This sport-weight yarn would be perfect for small projects, and projects that use 2 different colors.
Length & Weight: 144 yards, 50 grams.
Gauge: 6.5 stitches per inch on US size 4 needles.
Fiber Content: 100% Superfine Alpaca
This is definitely the micro-brew that's getting snatched up the quickest. But it's no wonder- it's the cashmere blend. This stuff feels divine! It's 70% cashmere and 30% silk, and I can hardly think of a more luscious mixture. It feels so good against the skin, and the two fibers display colors so well- the deep, saturated, hand dyed colorways just look stellar. Monarch is a fingering weight yarn and there's enough in one skein to make a small scarf or cowl. If you want a larger sized project, consider 2 colors that complement each other. There are some beautiful options you can choose from, and they're all so sophisticated and lovely- you really can't go wrong.
Length & Weight: 156 yards, 40 grams.
Gauge: 7 stitches per inch on US size 3 needles.
Fiber Content: 70% Cashmere, 30% Silk
4. Wabi Sabi
Are you familiar with the term wabi-sabi? It's the Japanese aesthetic of accepting, appreciating, and embracing the imperfections in life. I love that this yarn was named after that philosophy, because it's a gorgeous example of it. This bulky weight has that imperfect handspun look, with an uneven texture, that, in my opinion just begs to be felt. This yarn is a silk and wool blend, so the hand dyed colors all radiate out of the silky shine. Since it's a bulky weight, this yarn is great for quick one-skein projects for you to knit or crochet.
Length & Weight: 86 yards, 50 grams.
Gauge: 3.5 stitches per inch on US size 9 needles.
Fiber Content: 66% Silk, 34% Wool
I won't lie- when I look at all of the Synchronicity hanging on the wall, I want to hyperventilate a little. There are SO many outrageous colors to choose from, and I can pick out 3 or 4 as "my favorite". This yarn reminds me a lot of the Alchemy yarn Silk Purse, only it's a wool and silk blend rather than just silk. Synchronicity is a single ply that gives a pronounced stitch definition- so intricate patterns visually pop out instead of muddling your hard work.
Length & Weight: 118 yards, 50 grams.
Gauge: 5 stitches per inch on US size 7 needles.
Fiber Content: 50% Silk, 50% Wool
Temple is a DK weight yarn that's 100% superfine merino wool. Since there's no silk blended in, the colorways all look more matte- which is stunning. To me, it proves that the Alchemy colorways are thoughtfully well done- and that it isn't just the sheen from the silk making the work look great. Temple is very wearable, and although there's a short line of colors available- they are agreeable to a lot of different styles. This yarn would be perfect for knitting or crocheting cozy accessories.
Length & Weight: 128 yards, 50 grams.
Gauge: 6 stitches per inch on US size 5 needles.
Fiber Content: 100% Superfine Merino Wool
The final micro-brew treat is another 100% wool yarn, only it's a sweet fingering weight. Juniper has a very limited stock, but the hand dyed colorways are to-die-for. I love how to wool shows off those tonal shifts, and the 'solid' colorways still have depth. With a generous 232 yards, you have enough for knitting or crocheting accessories that you'll use and wear often.
Length & Weight: 232 yards, 50 grams.
Gauge: 8 stitches per inch on US size 2 needles.
Fiber Content: 100% Superfine Merino Wool
