The Goldilocks Collection
Classic Elite Yarns released a 3-in-1 PDF of baby sweaters, adorably named the Goldilocks Collection. While the collection on its own is $12, we've been given permission to give out the PDF for free when you purchase the yarn!
To get your free hard copy of the Goldilocks Collection, purchase 2 - 4 skeins of Liberty Wool Light, and mention the collection in the 'special instructions' box as you checkout.
Liberty Wool Light is an excellent choice for baby garments- for a few reasons. Firstly, it's machine washable, so it's ready for life's inevitable messes. Also, the wool in Liberty Wool Light is soft and touchable, so it won't be itchy on baby's sensitive skin. The sport weight Liberty Wool Light is warm, but much more lightweight than the heavier worsted weight and bulky weight versions Liberty Wool or Big Liberty Wool. This makes Liberty Wool Light a great choice for the transitional seasons and moderate climates like our own. The solid colorways of Liberty Wool Light are only $10 each, so your baby sweater will only cost you $20 - $40.
Each of the three baby sweaters feature a different use of geometric stitch patterns on classic sweater designs. They're all written for a range of sizes from 6 months to 4 years! Since there is a decent amount of yardage in each skein of Liberty Wool Light, you only need 2 - 4 skeins, depending on the sweater and size you're choosing.
Baby Bear is an easily unisex pullover with a fabulous cable design across the yoke. The body and sleeves are simple stockinette stitch, with garter stitch edges. The button closure on the shoulder provides an awesome opportunity for customization! By picking out a cutesy button, or a classic round metal, shell, or wooden button- the sweater can take on completely different looks. For sizes 1-2 (2-3, 3-4) years, you would need 3 (4, 4) balls.
The same button closure for the shoulder and unisex versatility can be found on So Soft. This pullover's all-over diamond brocade is a nice textural stitch design that's easy and quick to knit. Ribbing around the edges helps with the fitting, and I think the ribbing around the neckline is a cute detail. For sizes 6 months (1-2 years, 3-4 years) you will need 2 (3, 4) balls.
Just Right is a cardigan with a more feminine aesthetic than the other two. The bodice, collar, and sleeves are all worked in easy-peasy garter stitch. A diagonal eyelet lace box stitch travels around the lower body, as well as the sleeve cuffs, which adds a uniform and professional touch. For sizes 6 months (1-2 years, 3-4 years) you'll need 2 (3, 4) balls.
There are so many colors of Liberty Wool Light, it's difficult to decide on just one. Luckily it's affordable and the baby garments knit up quickly- so you can easily make all three for every little one in your life!
